How much sample is required for TCLP analysis?

The required amount of soil for TCLP analysis is 110 grams in order to be complaint with TCLP methodology.

Bureau Veritas Laboratories can do a modified TCLP analysis with less than 110 grams, however, the samples/analyses would be noted as “modified” and may not meet regulatory requirements.  For paint chips, collecting 110 grams of sample (to do TCLP lead in paint) is usually not possible; “modified TCLP” can be completed however, as mentioned, the results will be noted as “modified and possibly not meeting regulatory requirements.”

Please try and submit at minimum of 10 grams for TCLP lead analysis for paint chips.  Modified TCLP analysis can be performed for other parameters but other minimum volumes to complete analysis with and without QC are required.
