The reported result values are above a regulatory limit can you reduce the detection limit (RDL)?

If the reported value for a parameter is greater than its Reported    Detection Limit (RDL) and both are greater than an associated regulatory limit, reducing the RDL for that parameter will not bring the concentration of the parameter into compliance.

The increase in the parameter’s RDL was likely the result of a dilution of the test sample to bring the concentration    of the parameter to within the calibration range of the test instrument.

For more information on why RDLs are raised, please review the following solution article.

If the reported value for a parameter is less than its Reported Detection Limit (RDL) and this value is greater than a regulatory limit, it may be possible to reduce the RDL of the parameter and bring the result within compliance. The ability to do this is highly dependent upon the parameter and on the instrument used. Please submit a request to our service team with you job reference number to initiate a data investigation.
